A brief history...
The bookshop in its original location at 24 Claremont Hill was founded by Didi Evason in 1986. It was called Quarry Books and in 1990 the business was bought by Phill and Pat Wynne. Andy Cork took over the shop in 2001 and for a time vintage clothing was sold as well as second-hand books.
He named it Roundwood Books and developed significant internet sales. In February 2008 the business was bought by Simon Baynes and in 2010 the decision was taken to move the shop to a more central location in Shrewsbury at 9-10 Milk Street.
Our aim is to preserve and strengthen the traditional character of the shop, while at the same time developing our products and services along thoroughly modern lines, particularly via the internet and the sale of classical music CDs.
The shop is managed by Rodney Rogers and is proud to continue the commitment of all its owners over the last 24 years to independent bookselling combined with first-class customer service.
